This technique has been implemented in religion – religious fasting – going back thousands of years and is still used today by the military. Over time, it has been perfected to not only help you burn fat and lose weight, but also to reset your digestive tract, maintain and increase muscle mass, and provide you with more energy throughout the day.
Intermittent Fasting
Small Sacrifice For Huge Results
A ketogenic diet, intermittent fasting, forces the body to switch its metabolism from burning glucose to stored fat (i.e. glycerol). Fats provide the body with much more energy per unit than does glucose, and allows the body to increase its metabolism providing you with more energy throughout the day, more alertness at work, and better sleep at night. A simple 24 hours without eating will allow your body 16-18 hours of strictly burning stored fat, and rapid weight loss.
By fasting for 24 hours, your body reduces the amount of sugar in the blood, and therefore its level of insulin. Overtime this will decrease your insulin resistance. This relieves the body of unwanted stress and inflammation and leads to numerous other health benefits such as increased executive function in the brain, increased stem cell production, and DNA protection – so you’ll look and feel younger for longer!
Fasting allows your body to conduct autophagy, which purges your body of unwanted cancer cells, defective proteins, potential disease-causing bacteria, and inflammation that causes you pain. In short, it is the body’s way of recycling old defective cells, and using them to rebuild younger, healthier cells. This process will keep you looking and feeling younger for longer, prevent the buildup of toxic proteins and other substances.
Intermittent fasting increases the amount of natural human growth hormone (HGH) in the body. HGH stimulates natural growth and promotes cell reproduction and cell regeneration in humans. It promotes muscle growth, the burning of fat cells, and the uptake of glucose from the blood.
Additionally, intermittent fasting will increase the amount of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). BDNF is a hormone that promotes the growth and differentiation of new neurons and synapses. It increases the capacity to learn, improves memory and critical thinking.
